More than 2000 years ago the Romans already recognized the great potential
for winemaking in this (rather northerly) area.
The steep valleys, the particularities of its stone, the Blue slate, creating
a unique climate, inspired the foundation of this great wine culture. Today just
as then, these are the basis of the special character of the Moselwines.

On its winding and ever mäandering way the Mosel forms again and again
new vine theatres, their dramas each year to be written anew!
